Here are FNTL’s favorite collection from PSFW17

The tenth PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week (PSFW17) officially commenced on 13th April 2017, also marking the eighth consistent year of the prêt a porter platform. As announced, PFDC introduced an evolved show concept and structure. Continuing with the structured approach to fashion showcases, PFDC team built on their commitment to 3 distinct platforms within PSFW17 – With separate and dedicated showcases for Luxury/Prêt designers, High-Street brands and Textile houses this year.

All three days of PSFW17 were somewhat of a fashion disappointment. Many collections seemed like a half-hearted attempt at high street fashion by designers who usually do well with bridal collections. Despite this, we still managed to pick a few collections that worked on many levels. These designers managed to score a home run with their collections – One of our top 5 picks is:

Sapphire

Day-2 of PSFW17’s final showcase was presented by high-street retail brand Sapphire with its ramp debut at PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week. Sapphire unveiled its Luxury Prét line with an exclusive collection, titled “Totem”. The collection draws its inspiration from oriental art and narrative paintings.

“Totem” featured an earthy color palette with silhouettes that are current, fluid and that essentially define the ease of ready-to-wear. The endearing spirit animals, juxtaposed against Wind, Water and Air elements symbolising the freedom of spirit and innate strength within all Sapphire woman. The collection boasted oversized jackets and off-shoulder frilled tops with flared pants varying in length. The designs incorporated a range of organic fabrics such as pure linen and cotton with silk finishing.

Sapphire has known what they are doing and what the brand stands for from day 1, and this collection just proves that further. Each piece told a complete story on it’s own – with wild animals taking over silhouettes and well-structured designs swaying with every move of the model – and created a harmonious collection together. To some many outfits may seem over the top, with exaggerated sleeves and oversized cuts, but these garments have the ability to make you stand out from the crowd while being practical at the same time! The accessories and the shoes were on point as well, creating a complete collection that worked on every level.
